Jackson Springs

Jackson Springs was not my favorite trip, however it was still relatively interesting.  There was a flood in the 1990's.  We were able to see the high water mark which was pretty interesting.

Ocmulgee Indian Reservation

We visited the Ocmulgee National Indian Reservation. When first arriving at Olcmulgee is the Indian burial mounds.  At first glans they just look like large hills, but after closer inspection it becomes clear that they were designed with a specific purpose.

This is the entrance to one of the burial mounds at Olcmulgee.

MEGA FLOOD MOVIE!!!!!

Its quite interesting to think about how the current landscape of the Earth was formed.  The most interesting part for me is how much the Earth has changed and how it has been changed.  Glaciers have had a major impact on the North American landscape.  When a glacier melts, it produces a lot of water.  This is known as a mega flood.  The film explained how severe of an impact these floods can have on the landscape of a continent.

Deep Sea Movie

The movie Deep Secrets was pretty interesting.  The movie shows that there are as many if not more interesting than the surface of the Earth.  Its remarkable how many different species live under the ocean surface. What is even more remarkable is how little we know about the ocean, considering that it makes up the majority of our planet.   The movie did a good job of showing just a taste of what the ocean has to offer.  One can only image what secrets lie undiscovered under the surface.

Community Garden

Community gardens have been becoming more and more popular around the county in recent years.  They offer a relatively inexpensive way for many Americans to have fresh produce in their homes without the burden of maintaining a garden by themselves.  They give novices a chance to learn how to garden, while also feeding their families in tough economic times.  The community garden we visited was located directly behind the Macon Methodist Church on College Street.

Many community gardens, like the one in Macon, us raised beds to grow crops.  This is done to prevent harmful toxins from entering the produce.

Igneous Rocks

Obsidian!
